Bridget is the goddess of Spring and she is celebrated at Imbolc, the 1st of February.She brings light to the home and keeps the spirit of the house warm. For well over a thousand years she and her followers kept a fire burning on the hill of Kildare. Any man who entered the fire pit would find his bits shrivelling up. Later she became a christian saint. People make Bridget’s crosses and hang them in a prominent place in the house. Before christian times these crosses symbolised the sun. This is a festival about potential, nothing is set yet,everything is just waiting to burst into life. We should recognize times in our lives where we are on the cusp of something new and fresh just like the coming of Spring.
